EL PASO, Texas – South Carolina senior George Bryan IV wrapped up his second trip to the Western Refining All-American Golf Classic on Tuesday with a tie for 23rd place at El Paso Country Club.

Bryan IV, a two-time All-American, posted rounds of 71-74-73=218 (+5) to finish in a four-way tie with LSU’s John Peterson, NC State’s Matt Hill (the 2009 NCAA Champion) and Arizona’s Tarquin MacManus. Alabama’s Hunter Hamrick won the event at 11-under-par 202 after defeating Oklahoma State’s Morgan Hoffmann in a one-hole playoff.

The field at the Western Refining All-American Golf Classic, in its 35th year hosted by the Sun Bowl Association, consists of collegiate players that were named All-Americans the previous season that still have eligibility remaining. It was the second trip to the event for Bryan IV, who finished 14th in the tournament in 2007. Bryan’s appearance marked the 10th time that a Gamecock player has competed at the event; head coach Bill McDonald also played in the Classic while a student-athlete at Georgia Tech in 1985.

South Carolina’s spring golf season gets underway March 1-2 with the Seahawk Intercollegiate in Wilmington, N.C.
