COLUMBIA, S.C. – Seniors George Bryan IV and Paul Woodbury and sophomore Wesley Bryan were named to the PING All-Southeast Region team, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Wednesday. It marks the fourth selection for George Bryan IV, the second for Wesley Bryan and the first for Woodbury.

Bryan IV becomes the first player in Carolina history to earn selection to the All-Region team in each of his four seasons. Also a three-time All-SEC selection, he wrapped up his career this season as one of the most prolific golfers in South Carolina history. His career scoring average of 72.37 stands atop the record books, as does his average of 71.35 for the 2009-10 season. Ranked 37th in the nation in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin release, he tied for medalist honors twice during his senior season – including the SEC Championship – falling in playoffs on both occasions. The native of Chapin, S.C., earned four top-five finishes and eight top-20 showings in 11 events this season.

Woodbury put together a stellar senior campaign to earn his first selection to the All-Region team, this after earning a nod for All-SEC honors earlier in the spring. The native of Lake City, S.C., became the first Gamecock to win two tournaments in one season since Kyle Thompson in 2000-01 as he captured medalist honors at the Rees Jones Intercollegiate and the Seminole Intercollegiate, winning both tournaments in playoffs. Equaling the Bryan brothers with 16 rounds at par or better this season, Woodbury finished second on the team and seventh in the SEC with a 72.06 season scoring average. That mark ranks as the fifth-best single season in Carolina history. He finished the year with four top-10 and seven top-20 showings in his final season as a Gamecock.

Wesley Bryan earned his second consecutive All-Region honor after his sophomore season average of 72.12 ranked sixth in school annals and eighth in the SEC this year. The native of Chapin, S.C., posted six top-10 finishes and a tie for 11th in 11 events, with his best showings being a pair of ties for sixth place at the Seahawk Intercollegiate and the NCAA East Regional. His most impressive feat in 2010, however, was a round of 64 (-7) in the second round of the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate on March 29 that ranks as the second-best round in Gamecock golf history. He is ranked 68th in the nation and posted 16 rounds of par or better during the 2009-10 season. Bryan was also named to the All-SEC team earlier in the year.

The GCAA selected a total of 153 players across six regions for this year’s team. Florida led the way with four players selected to the All-Southeast Region team, followed by the Gamecocks, Georgia and Augusta State with three each.
