COLUMBIA, S.C. – University of South Carolina women’s basketball head coach Dawn Staley will be among the profession’s elite playing in the second annual 4Kay Golf Classic presented by Nike, on Sunday and Monday, September 13-14. The event, from which all proceeds benefit the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund in partnership with The V Foundation for Cancer Research, will be hosted at the Grandover Resort and Conference Center. Staley turned to key Gamecock supporters Jane Suggs, Katie Cox of Coca-Cola and Nancy Spencer of Delta Dental to round out her foursome at the event.

“Everyone knows someone who has been touched by cancer,” Staley said. “It’s important to take any opportunity to be a part of raising awareness and funding for a cure. I look forward to doing my part in the name of Kay Yow.”

The 2009 Classic will be especially poignant as it will be held not only in the shadow of Yow’s triumphs at the Greensboro Coliseum, but also close to her childhood home of Gibsonville, N.C., where she was laid to rest in January after facing her third bout with breast cancer.
