COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina rising junior goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer has been named to the 2009 Watch List for the Missouri Athletic Club’s (MAC) Hermann Trophy, the top individual award presented in intercollegiate soccer.

The winners of the award are selected through voting by the members of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Each January, the winners are honored at an annual banquet at the MAC, located in downtown St. Louis. The MAC’s Hermann Trophy is on exhibition at the National Soccer Hall of Fame Museum in Oneonta, N.Y.

Maurer paced the Gamecock defense during the 2008 campaign, collecting an 0.80 goals against average and nine shutouts. The Lawrenceville, Ga., native earned an 0.79 goals against average in conference games, while collecting three shutouts against league foes.
