COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Southeastern Conference announced the 2009 women’s soccer television schedule Monday, and the South Carolina Gamecocks will play two televised games during the conference season.
The Gamecocks will host Vanderbilt in the SEC opener at Stone Stadium Friday, Sept. 25 in a game that will be regionally broadcast on Fox Sports South at 7 p.m. South Carolina’s road match at LSU on Sunday, Oct. 25 will be televised nationally by ESPNU. That game will kickoff at 3 p.m. in Baton Rouge, La.
The ESPNU broadcast at LSU marks the third consecutive year that the South Carolina women’s soccer team will be featured on national television. The Gamecocks played on the Fox Soccer Channel each of the past two seasons with a 2007 road game at Tennessee and the 2008 season finale against Florida at home.
The SEC Tournament final will also be broadcast on ESPNU. The championship match will be played Sunday, Nov. 8. at 3 p.m. The tournament is held at the Orange Beach Soccer Complex in Orange Beach, Ala.
The SEC has announced that 14 games will be televised in 2009, the most the league has had telecast in a single season. On the heels of the new SEC-ESPN agreement, the number of broadcasts nearly triples the five televised games from the 2008 season.
