COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina junior forward Dominique Archie has announced today that he will submit his name for the pool for the 2009 NBA Draft. Archie will not hire an agent, leaving open the opportunity to return to the Gamecocks for his senior season.
“Coach Horn and I have spoken and he is in full support of me going through the process to gain feedback on my future as a professional.” Archie said. “Therefore I am entering my name in the draft with the full intention of returning to the University of South Carolina for my senior season.”
“We are confident that Dominique’s decision to enter his name in the draft and go through the process will give him valuable experience that will help with future decisions,” South Carolina head coach Darrin Horn said.
Archie contributed 10.9 points and 6.4 rebounds per game for South Carolina during the 2008-09 season. He started all 31 games of the year and averaged 29.4 minutes per outing. Archie recorded three double-doubles on the year and led the team in rebounding nine times, including a career high 12 versus Tennessee in mid-January.
