COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina was edged out of first place today by the host team Charlotte 49ers at McAlpine Park in Charlotte, N.C. The 49ers 10 points was enough to defeat the Gamecocks, whose final score was 11. Queens College finished in third with 24 points. The Gamecocks team of Jenny Lake and Lauren Paige finished in second place with a time of 22:26.4.

The team of Jen Taylor and Cassie Ficken of Charlotte place first with a time of 22:03.1. The Gamecocks had four teams finish in the top ten. The 6,000 meter relay race was ran in teams of two, with each person running 3,000 meters.

Carolina’s next meet will be on September 21st, when they travel to Rock Hill, S.C. to compete in the Winthrop Invitational.
