The South Carolina women’s soccer staff is in the middle of youth day camps at the soccer practice fields. Coaches and players are working with campers on their fundamentals and teaching them new skills to improve their game.
During the week-long camp, the kids are working on the basic elements of soccer, such as dribbling, passing and shooting, as well as developing their defensive techniques.
“They are working on several different skills,” head coach Shelley Smith said. “With this age level, they need a lot of skill building. We’re working on dribbling, shooting, a little defending, the basics of passing and receiving – all of the things that will make them exceed and become better soccer players.”
