BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. – South Carolina equestrian coach Boo Major has announced the signing of Kayla Gamble to a national letter of intent to join the Gamecocks in the 2009-10 season. Kayla is a Western rider from Hilliard Darby High School in Hilliard, Ohio.
Gamble has been showing Western and English for six years and is a four-time All-American Youth Horse Show top 10 finalist (2005-08). She is a three-time Ohio State Fair qualifier, earning the reserve championships in 2006 and gaining top 10 finishes in horsemanship from 2006-08. Kayla is a four-year and inaugural year participant of her school’s Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) team. She was a national qualifier all four years and was the 2009 IEA National Champion in horsemanship while leading her team (Autumn Rose Farm High School team) to the 2009 IEA team national championship. She was also the 2007 Reserve National Champion in horsemanship and reining in addition to being a member of two IEA reserve national championship teams.
At Hilliard Darby High School, Gamble earned Award of Merit status and also competed in gymnastics where she was an all-state qualifier for floor exercise in 2008. She earned four varsity letters during a time that the team earned two conference championships (2006-07) and two reserve championships (2008-09).
