BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The University of South Carolina men’s soccer team was eliminated from the Conference USA Tournament on Friday, falling 4-1 to Tulsa in semifinal action. The Gamecocks drop to 11-6-2, while the No. 1 seed Golden Hurricane improve to 14-2-2 and advance to Sunday’s tournament championship where they will face seventh-seeded Florida International.

Mark Wiltse scored the lone Gamecock goal in the 75th minute of the match. The tally was his second of the season. Midfielder’s Jeff Scannella and David Smith paced the Carolina offense with three shots each.

Carolina goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer collected two saves in net, while Tulsa keeper Dominic Cervi tallied four saves.

Tulsa’s Joe Salem gave the Golden Hurricane a 1-0 halftime advantage with a goal in the 26th minute, and Eric Defreitas, Jose Parada and Kilian Poeschk each contributed goals in the second half for the 4-1 victory.
