COLUMBIA – At the end of the fall campaign, South Carolina women’s golf ranks 27th in the nation in the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index. Sophomore Bénédicte Toumpsin is ranked 52nd in the individual standings as well. A mathematical formula that links teams and players based on common opponents based on strength of schedule and won-lost-tied record, the Performance Index gives the most objective view of the teams and individuals playing well over a set period of time.

The Gamecocks opened the season with a sixth-place finish at the Cougar Classic and closed tournament play with a seventh-place showing at the UA-Ann Rhoads Intercollegiate. Individually, Toumpsin was the team’s top scorer in all four events and finished as high as fourth at the Cougar Classic. She finished the fall with a 73.67 average.

South Carolina returns to the course for spring competition on Feb. 24 at the Puerto Rico Invitational.
