The Division 1A Athletic Directors’ Association announced Eric Hyman, Director of Athletics at the University of South Carolina, has been selected to serve as the President of the Association. Each year, the President is selected by the group of Association Past Presidents, and approved by the Board of Trustees, to serve a one-year term.
Eric Hyman has had a very distinguished career, and is highly respected among the 120 Universities of Division 1A Athletic Directors’ Association. Throughout his career, he has developed championship programs, while maintaining a very high priority for a quality student-athlete experience, and focus on academic prowess. As a former coach, Hyman has also proven throughout his career to be a very capable administrator who sets high standards of excellence for coaches, but strongly supports their opportunities for success.
Hyman has been the Director of Athletics at the University of South Carolina since July 1, 2005. Prior to that, Hyman served as the Director of Athletics at TCU for over seven years, and as the Director of Athletics at Miami University. Before leading Miami Athletics, Hyman was the Executive Associate Athletics Director at North Carolina State University in the early 1990’s. Hyman was named the 2003-04 Street and Smith’s Business Journal National Athletics Director of the Year, and was also selected as the Division 1A West Regional Athletics Director of the Year by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). For the past 8 years, Hyman has been a member of the faculty for the Division 1A Athletic Directors’ Association Institute.
Hyman is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was an All-ACC football player, on the Dean’s list and selected for the Hula Bowl.
The current Association First Vice President is Mike Alden, Director of Athletics at the University of Missouri, and the Second Vice President is Dan Guerrero, Director of Athletics at UCLA.
