COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Athletics Department today announced the television schedule for women’s basketball, which features four non-conference games and two Southeastern Conference matchups. The Gamecocks will play Clemson, Stanford, Charlotte and Connecticut on SportSouth as part of its multi-year deal with ISP Sports, while FSN will air home games against Mississippi and Kentucky.
“I am excited about the basketball season, and more importantly, I’m excited about the opportunity for six of our games to be televised,” South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley said. “It gives the fans that are not able to get to Colonial Life Arena a chance to see our team play.”
Among the four SportSouth broadcasts are two teams that battled in the 2008 NCAA Final Four as Stanford visits Colonial Life Arena on Fri., Dec. 19, and Connecticut spends part of its Christmas break in Columbia with a game on Sun., Dec. 28. The first broadcast of the season will be against archrival Clemson on Wed., Nov. 19, and Charlotte completes the SportSouth broadcast schedule with a game on Sun., Dec. 21. The broadcast team for the SportSouth games will be announced at a later date.
As part of the SEC’s television contract, FSN comes to Colonial Life Arena twice this season, beginning with a contest against Mississippi on Sun., Feb. 8. The crew comes back to Columbia for the final home game of the season on Sun., Mar. 1, against Kentucky.
SportSouth, the nation’s sixth-largest regional sports network, reaches more than nine million cable and satellite homes across a six-state region. Through its affiliates and other Fox Networks Group-owned networks, FSN reaches more than 70 million homes through 16 owned-and-operated networks. Headquartered in Los Angeles, FSN serves as the television home to more than half of all MLB, NHL and NBA teams based in the United States and produces close to 5,000 live local events each year, including more than 1,600 in high definition.
