Gamecocks Finish Ninth At LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic

Baton Rouge, La. – The South Carolina women’s golf team finished in ninth place at the LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic, held at the par-72 University Club. The Gamecocks scored a three-day total 310-297-300=907 (+43) and finished 35 strokes behind tournament winner No. 1 Duke, who finished with an 872 (+8). Jenna Pearson was Carolina’s top finisher, tying for 12th with a 71-76-74=221 (+5).

Freshman Bénédicte Toumpsin tied for 31st place with a 77-74-75=226 (+10). Taylor Barrett finished tied for 52^nd with an 84-70-78=232 (+16).

Juniors Blythe Worley and Camila Mori both finished tied for 68^th with a 236 for the weekend. Worley scored an 81-77-78=236 (+20) while Mori improved 21 spots on the final day and had the best round for a Gamecock Sunday, scoring 73. She finished the tournament with an 81-82-73=236 (+20).

Duke’s Amanda Blumenherst claimed the individual title with a 68-69-70=207 (-9), finishing eight strokes ahead of the second place finisher.

The Gamecocks return to action when they compete at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic held in Athens, Ga., next weekend.
