TEMPE, Ariz. – South Carolina has not won a golf tournament this year. In fact, they have not placed better than fourth all season long. So what are they doing one shot out of the lead with 18 holes to play at the NCAA Division I Men’s West Regional?

South Carolina shot 19-under 269 Friday – the day’s low round – to move into second place, one behind UCLA. Three Gamecocks shot second-round 67s.

“I want us to win a golf tournament,” associate head coach Bill McDonald said, “and I want them to think that way.”
