POST-GAME NOTES

:: South Carolina took a 34-13 lead into the locker room at halftime. Entering Monday’s game, Carolina owned a perfect 8-0 record when leading at intermission.

:: Head Coach Susan Walvius started the combination of Iva Sliskovic, Melanie Johnson, Ilona Burgrova, Stacy Booker and Lauren Simms for the fifth consecutive game. Each of those five games resulted in Gamecock victories.

:: Carolina raced out to a 9-2 lead to start the game, then closed out the first half with a 15-0 run to create all the breathing room it needed to pull away from the Eagles for good.

:: Winthrop’s 13 points in the first half matched the lowest point total allowed by the Gamecocks in a half this season, as Carolina limited Mercer to 13 first-half points on Nov. 24. Carolina limited Fordham to 14 points in the first half on Dec. 3.

:: Sophomore guard Brionna Dickerson established a new career high with 16 points on Monday. Her previous career high was a 13-point performance in Carolina’s win at UNC Wilmington two days ago.

:: Monday’s announced attendance of 1,868 marked the fourth-largest announced crowd for a Carolina game this year, trailing only the Gamecocks’ contests against Clemson (2,416), Oklahoma (2,355) and South Carolina State (1,938).

:: Monday’s win extended the Gamecocks’ five-game winning streak, matching the five-game winning streak that Carolina rattled off last February. The win over Winthrop also marked the Gamecocks’ fifth win in their last six games, with the lone defeat coming at the hands of then-No. 3 Oklahoma.

:: Carolina’s win over Winthrop gave the Gamecocks a 6-5 edge in the all-time series between the two schools and was Carolina’s fourth straight win over the Eagles.

:: Monday’s win marked the Gamecocks’ 21st consecutive win over Big South Conference opposition in a streak that dates back to 1978.

:: Monday’s win marked Carolina’s ninth straight victory over in-state opposition and was the Gamecocks’ third win over a team from the Palmetto State this year, as Carolina pounded both Clemson and South Carolina State earlier in the year.

:: Junior guard Ebony Jones checked into the game with more than 13 minutes remaining, marking the earliest entrance of her career. She scored on a fast-break layup with just over eight minutes remaining following a blocked shot by Lakesha Tolliver.

:: After struggling in recent games, Lea Fabbri got back on track Monday, finishing with eight points and six assists.

:: The Gamecocks dished out 20 assists as a team. Carolina is now 8-0 when distributing 16 or more assists in a game this year and are 29-2 when dishing out 16 assists or more dating back to the beginning of last season.

:: Shannel Harris set a new season high with seven points on Monday. Her previous high was six points scored at UNC Wilmington two days ago.

:: Winthrop’s 30 points matched the third lowest point total ever allowed by South Carolina. The school record was set last year when Carolina limited Bethune-Cookman to 26 points.
