FRESNO, Calif. – The Gamecock Equestrian team closed out its fall schedule in jaw-clenching style as they defeated the Fresno State Bulldogs in a close competition. The teams tied 10-10 but USC earned the win with the raw score of 1312.5-1295.5. The Gamecocks improve to 3-1 overall.
In individual categories, USC won 4-1 in equitation over fences and 3-2 in horsemanship. Fresno State took equitation on the flat 3-2 and reining, 4-1.
In over fences, Lindsay Pace defeated Kate Nenneker 85-79, and was the high scorer of the meet. Ellen Hogate, Kelley Campbell and Nicole Bourgeois all recorded scores of 80 to win their duals. In equitation, Sarah Lowe defeated Jennifer Jory 70-65 and Kristen Terebesi beat Lisa Wells 68-61 for the two Gamecock wins.
Rebekah Roof registered the lone win in reining as she defeated Daniell Nelson 69-58. In horsemanship, Katy Biffle, Katie Grossnickle and Kristina Papendick led USC to victory.
The hunt seat team is now 4-0, while the western team is 0-4.
The season will resume in January when the Gamecocks host Stephen F. Austin to kick off the spring portion of the schedule.
