Redshirt sophomore Thomas Stoddard and freshman Pedro Campos won their opening round singles matches Friday at the Bulldog Scramble in Athens, Ga. The event kicked off today and runs through the weekend at the Dan Magill Tennis Center.

Competing in the Silver Draw, Stoddard earned a 6-3, 6-3 straight-set victory over Georgia’s Brad Bededict while Campos outlasted the Bulldogs’ Josh Varela in three sets 6-1, 5-7, 6-3, in the Black Draw.

Junior Yevgeny Supeko and freshman David Wolff both came up short in their respective Red Draw matches. After dropping the opening set to East Tennessee State’s Enrique Oliveras, 6-3, Supeko fought back to claim the second, 6-3. Oliveras won the decisive third set, 6-1. Wolff fell to Robbye Poole of Ole Miss, 6-3, 6-2.

Freshman Spencer Feldman lost a 6-0, 6-0 match to Matic Omerzel of Georiga in the Black Draw. Junior Joe Veeder fell to ETSU’s Alex Ahlgren.
