Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina forward Darcel Mollon is off to a great start in her summer season with the Charlotte Lady Eagles of the USL (United Stats Soccer) W-League. Mollon earned recognition on the W-League Team of the Week honors following her two-goal performance for Charlotte in a 4-0 victory over Carolina.

Mollon, who will be a senior at South Carolina this fall, is among point leaders in the W-League. In addition to her two-goal performance against Carolina, she scored a pair of goals last Friday in a 4-0 win over Bradenton and has five goals on the season.

The USL W-League is a competitive women’s soccer league in the US and Canada. The 2006 season features a 38-team format in four conferences playing 12 or 14 regular season matches. The top women’s players throughout the world compete in the USL W-League through the summer months. In addition to the league featuring international and former professional stars, elite collegiate players have the opportunity to also compete in the league while maintaining their collegiate eligibility. The league is recognized throughout the world for providing elite competition for women’s players, while providing affordable family entertainment to many fans in each of the team locations. Carolina head coach Shelley Smith was a past member of the USL W-League with the Boston Renegades.
