COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina equestrian team will travel to Brookings, S.D. for its final head-to-head competition of the season and take on the South Dakota State Jackrabbits, Saturday, April 1. The Gamecocks are 5-2 overall on the season. The western team hosted SDSU back in February and defeated the Jackrabbits 520-462.5.
“We look forward to competing with South Dakota as our final regular season meet,” said head coach Boo Duncan. “We competed against the Jackrabbits in Western in February and are looking forward to competing against their entire team this weekend. We would love to finish our season with a win in both Western and English and that will be our goal for this weekend.”
Competing for USC in the hunt seat competition are Ashleigh Collins, Carly Johns, Jessica Boll, Ciara Stuart, Cate Sands and Sarah Stephens. In over fences, Chelsea Koornick, Lisa Bourbonniere, Johns and LIndsey Pace are scheduled.
Lined up for horsmeanship is Allison Bradley, Katie Grossnickle, Katy Biffle, Laura Pipkin, Rachel Sternoff and Michelle Grah. Scheduled for reining is Lindsay Williams, Bradley, Biffle and Pipkin.
The Gamecocks are coming off of a win over Stephen F. Austin last weekend. Individually, both teams are 5-3 on the season. The Southern Equestrian Championships will be next for USC. That will be held April 7-8 in Athens, Ga.
