COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina head equestrian coach Boo Duncan announced the signing of Carly Babcock to the 2006 freshman class. Babcock is a hunt seat rider from Deer Harbor, Wash., that won the Flat and Fences Classes at the 2005 College Bound Invitational.

“I was very impressed with Carly’s equitation skills when I watched her ride at the College Bound Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. last summer,” said Duncan. “She has a very solid position on the flat and that is where I plan to utilize her skills the most at USC. She will be a solid equitation on the flat performer for us. I am looking forward to working with Carly.”

Babcock was the 2004 Central Texas Hunter/Jumper Association High Point Rider, the CTHJA Junior Equitation Year End Champion, and the CTHJA Reserve Champion Junior Hunter. Also in 2004, she was the Texas Hunter/Jumper Association Children/Adult Medal Champion and Children’s Equitation Champion. In 2005, the Orcas Island H.S. graduate was the Washington State Hunter/Jumper Association Children’s Equitation Champion and Children’s Hunter Champion.
