GREENSBORO, Ga. –

Following the first two rounds of the Linger Longer Invitational in Greensboro, Ga., the South Carolina men’s golf team sits tied for eighth place. The Gamecocks navigated the Lake Oconee Course (Par 72 – 7,393 yards) with a two-round score of 292-299=592 (+16) Sunday. The tournament concludes with the final 18 holes on Monday.

Playing as an individual, sophomore Warren Thomas produced two rounds at even par (72) and is tied for eighth individually.

Eirik Johansen fired a first-round 71 and added a second-round 74. The first-team All-SEC selection enters Monday’s final round in a tie for 12th. Sophomore Mark Anderson carded a 76 on the first 18 holes, but came back to record his best round of the year, a two-under par 70 in the second round. Anderson is tied for 16th on the individual leader board.

Redshirt freshman Patrick Cunning carded rounds of 78 and 70 and is tied for 24th. Freshman Allen Koon shot 76 in the first round and 78 in the second round to put him in a tie for 57th. Freshman Florian Fritsch rounded out the Carolina lineup in 60th place after rounds of 78 and 77.

Top-ranked Georgia (285-281=566, -10) leads second-place Charlotte (292-289=581, +5) by 15 strokes heading into tomorrow’s final round. Charlotte’s Trevor Murphy (-4) is the individual leader after day one. He fired a 68 in the morning and second-round 72.
