Starkville, MS – South Carolina sophomore Fred Townsend sits in third
place after the first day of the decathlon at the SEC Outdoor Track and
Field Championships. The event ends tomorrow while the meet runs
through Sunday.

Teammates Greg Royster and Ben Yocum are in 13th and 14th place,
respectively. Royster scored 3346 points in the first day while Yocum
tallied 2953 points.

Townsend’s results are as follows:

Fred Townsend – in third place with 3776 points

• 100m – 11.14
• long jump – 7.01m
• shot put – 10.31m
• high jump – 2.02m
• 400m – 50.24
