FOOTBALL (7-4, 5-3)
Ko Simpson was named first team All-America by the Football Writers Association of America. The Gamecocks will travel to Shreveport, Louisiana for a December 30 matchup in the Independence Bowl with the Missouri Tigers. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. ET.

MEN’S BASKETBALL (5-2)
The men’s basketball team returns to action this week with home games on Wednesday, Dec. 14 versus Winthrop and Saturday, Dec. 17 against Wofford.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL (2-3)
The women’s basketball team returns to action on Tuesday, Dec. 13, when they host nationally-ranked Minnesota at 7 p.m. That contest will mark the first game of a stretch in which the Gamecocks play five home games in nine days.

MEN’S SOCCER
Three South Carolina soccer players were selected to the National Soccer Coaches’ Association of America (NSCAA) All-South Region fi rst team. Senior defender Greg Reece and junior midfi elder Mike Sambursky garnered first-team honors while senior forward Josh Alcala was named to the third team

MEN’S TENNIS
The South Carolina men’s tennis team has been selected to participate in the 2006 USTA/ITA National Team Indoor Championships, Feb. 17-20, in Seattle. The event, which features 16 of the nation’s best teams, will be hosted by the University of Washington. The Gamecocks will enter the tournament as the No. 12 seed.
