- Kentucky and South Carolina met earlier this season, with Kentucky claiming a 72-60 win over the Gamecocks in Lexington on January 8. Wildcat guard Samantha Mahoney led all scorers in that game with 20 points, with teammate Carly Ormerod finishing with 18 of her own. Lauren Simms scored 14 points and grabbed seven boards to lead the Gamecocks. Kentucky did its damage from beyond the arc, draining eight of its 16 attempts from three-point range.
- South Carolina entered tonight’s game in search of its fourth win in its last five SEC games.
- Demetress Adams and Melanie Johnson both earned starting nods, marking the fourth start of the season for both players and the first start for either player since both appeared in the starting lineup on Dec. 21 vs. Bethune-Cookman.
