South Carolina is set to take on Marshall on Sunday afternoon at Stone Stadium. Kickoff is at 2 p.m. the match is designated as Family Fun Day. Kids are admitted free with a paying adult.

The Gamecocks are 6-5-1 and 3-0-1 in Conference USA games. After Friday night’s 1-0 win over Kentucky, South Carolina is in sole possession of second-place in the C-USA standings. The Gamecocks are unbeaten in their last seven contests, including six wins and a tie.

Senior Josh Alcala, who scored the game-winner on Friday against the Wildcats, and junior Mike Sambursky share the team scoring lead with 12 points apiece. Freshman goalkeeper Mike Gustavson sports a 1.51 goals-against average in all 1130:54 of action this season.

Scouting Marshall
The Thundering Herd comes to Columbia with a 4-7-1 record overall and a 2-2-1 mark in Conference USA games. Marshall is fresh off back-to-back wins, a 2-1 triumph over then No. 25 Tulsa (Oct. 9) and a 3-2 double overtime win at East Carolina on Friday. Marshall is tied for fourth in the league standings entering Sunday’s match at USC.

Senior Stanton Smith paces the Thundering Herd’s offensive attack with 15 points on six goals and three assists. Kirk Gibson (5 goals, 2 assist) is second with 12 points. Goalkeeper Greg Terhune has logged 1017:29 of playing time and owns a 2.83 goals-against average.

Bob Gray is in his 11th season as Marshall’s head coach and his 29th season overall.

The Gamecocks and Thundering Herd will play for the first time ever on Sunday.
