COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina’s Mike Gustavson is a member of Top Drawer Soccer’s National Team of the Week. The freshman goalkeeper was honored for his play in the Gamecocks’ wins over Tulsa and No. 9 SMU this past weekend.

Gustavson helped Carolina hold Tulsa to one goal on Oct. 28 and came back to shut out SMU. USC snapped the Mustangs’ nine-match undefeated streak. The shut out marked only the second time this season SMU had been held scoreless. The Aiken, S.C., product has allowed just two goals in the Gamecocks’ last four games.

Gustavson has started every match in goal this season for USC and registered a 1.35 goals-against average to this point in the season. In Conference USA matches, the rookie owns an 0.97 GAA in seven league games, which ranks second among C-USA `keepers. Gustavson’s GAA in all games is the third-best among league competitors. He has collected 59 saves and recorded a pair of shutouts.

Gustavson becomes the third South Carolina to be honored by Top Drawer Soccer this season, joining Greg Reece (Sept. 26) and Ryan Leeton (Oct. 10).

The Gamecocks are on the road this coming weekend to make up a pair of postponed matches at Florida International and UCF. Carolina plays at FIU on Friday, Nov. 4, and at UCF on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 1p.m. to wrap up its regular season
