Ahmad Smith
Ahmad Smith begins his fourth season with the Gamecock defense. He was named an assistant defensive backs coach in 2024 after spending the three previous seasons as a defensive analyst on Shane Beamer’s staff at South Carolina.
Smith spent the previous three seasons as a G.A. at Western Kentucky, including the final two (2019-20) where he worked with the nickels. In his first season at WKU he worked mostly with the running backs.
Smith came to WKU after one season at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology where he served as defensive line coach in 2017.
Smith spent the 2016 season as a defensive backs coach and academic support services G.A. at Indiana State. Previously, he coached outside linebackers as a student assistant in 2015. He played two seasons at Indiana State as a defensive end and linebacker, earning Missouri Valley academic honors.
Smith owns a bachelor’s (2015) and a master’s (2017) degree from ISU. He also earned a Master’s degree from WKU in 2020.
