Coach Walvius:
Regarding the game in general: “I thought our team played extremely well today, as a team.”
“We’re sad to see Lauren Simms go down with an injury today because she’s really the heart of our team, and a quiet leader for us and I know that had an emotional impact in the middle of the game and I thought we rebounded well.”
“They’re a young group and they should be able to build on this. Now that they’ve got a little taste of success today, that should give them some confidence to finish. We’ve been in situations many times this year that we couldn’t put a basketball game away. Our team getting their confidence now with a `W’ that’s very encouraging.”
Coach Moody:
Regarding the game in general: “Well you have to give credit where credit is due, South Carolina came out today and even under the circumstances that Susan’s team has been under, came out and played with a lot of energy. They were obviously more sharp mentally than we were.”
” They rebounded better, they got the loose balls, they made their shots, they screened better, they ran the floor better, they did everything better than us.”
” Our team is in a mental funk right now and we’re running out of time.”
