COLUMBIA, S.C. – Junior Robert Svensson won the team’s Bandit Award following his performance at the Mercedes Benz Collegiate Championship in Ponte Vedra, Fla., Feb. 20-22.
The Bandit Award is a sophisticated point system based on one-putts, chip-ins, holes under par and each round’s score in relation to the field. It recognizes the team’s best overall scorer at each event. Svensson scored 106 total points to edge freshman Mark Anderson, who finished with 100 points. Anderson captured the first Bandit Award of the spring season for his play at The Gator Invitational, Feb. 4-6.
Svensson finished in a three-way tie with Anderson and teammate Eirik Johansen at the Mercedes after firing a four-over par 220 in the tournament.
USC is idle this weekend, but travels to Las Vegas, Nev., to compete in the Southern Highlands Collegiate Championship, played at the Southern Highlands Golf Club, March 11-13.
