The South Carolina men’s tennis team concluded their fall schedule on Sunday November 7 as they finished up competition in the Bulldog Scramble in Athens, Georgia. The tournament, hosted by the University of Georgia, was the last of four fall competitions for the Gamecocks. Carolina was led by the play of juniors Tom Eklund and Adam Adler. Eklund, the Sweden native, went 3-0 for the weekend in singles play, with all three wins coming in straight sets. Eklund and partner Pedro Rodrigues added a doubles victory on Saturday, as they defeated Martin Stiegwardt and Stefan Tell of Florida 8-4. Adler also went 3-0 in singles play for the weekend. The Coastal Carolina transfer concluded his weekend with a thrilling three-set victory over Francisco Suro of Georgia 2-6, 6-2, 6-4. Adler and Rob Cassidy teamed up to give USC another victory in doubles. The duo defeated Trevor Wilson and Francisco Suro of Georgia 8-2. Other Gamecocks who picked up singles victories on the weekend were Jamie Cuellar, Pedro Rodrigues and Kaz Otani. The Gamecocks will now turn their attention to the 2005 season, which begins on January 13 with the SEC Indoors.
