Columbia, S.C. –
The University of South Carolina Athletic Department announced the hiring of Erika Goodwin as the new cheerleading coach. A USC graduate, Goodwin cheered for the Gamecocks from 1995-1999 where she was also the team captain in 1999. Goodwin comes to USC from Louisville, Ky. where she served as the head coach at Louisville Male High School and led the team to the national high school championship title in 2002.

Prior to coaching at Louisville Male High School, Goodwin cheered and captained at the University of Louisville. While at Louisville, Goodwin earned a Masters of Science in Exercise Physiology in 2002.

From 2000-2003 she served as a choreographer/coach for Louisville Cheer and Dance Team, GymTyme, where she created routines for competitive school aged cheerleaders.

Goodwin is a native of West Columbia and is a graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School.
