Recap?|? Final Stats?|? Notes

Dave Odom, South Carolina: “It was a great win for the Gamecocks. Georgia was not going to let this be a pretty game. Their resurgence has come about in large part as a result of their defensive improvement. There was nothing easy out there tonight. As physical a game as it was, we turned it over just 10 times … that’s an amazing statistic. I was very proud of our defense down the stretch. To hold them without a field goal for the last 10 minutes … our defense was certainly up to the task. This was Renaldo Balkman’s type of game. Kind of a junk yard game. How about John Chappell? Who tonight, outside of Georgia fans, could not be happy for John Chappell? He stood up when we needed him the most. The early report on Rolando Howell was not good … I can assure you that we will not get a call from the NCAA Committee tonight. We have more games to play and we’re looking towards Wednesday against Kentucky. It will be senior night and we have five seniors we want to honor.”

Dennis Felton, Georgia: “The game was a very, very competitively fought by both teams. There was a small stretch in the second half where we just didn’t have enough stops. We fought extremely hard but so did USC. We made them play a lot harder than they did in Athens. Tonight playing with all the guys in foul trouble was very frustrating and we couldn’t keep the guys that we needed out there to play with the talented athletes that USC has.”
