Xavier Shannon joined the academic staff at the University of South Carolina in February 2013. He currently serves as the academic advisor for Women’s Basketball, Cross Country and Track & Field. In addition to serving as the team’s advisor he also assists in life skills programming within the athletic department. Prior to joining the Gamecock staff, Xavier served as an assistant academic coordinator at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. Preceding South Florida, Xavier worked at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami, Florida where he counseled and advised juveniles. A native of Miami, Florida, Xavier graduated from Florida International University (FIU) in 2007 with a Bachelor’s in Sports Management. During his time at FIU, he was a three year starter on the football team. In 2008, with a year of eligibility left, Xavier decided to transfer to the University of Miami where he started at center on the football team. In 2010, Xavier graduated with a Master’s degree in Higher Education/Enrollment management.
