South Carolina played in their second overtime game of the season tonight vs. Alabama. In their only other overtime appearance this season, the Gamecocks won at Auburn, 53-51. The last time Carolina played in overtime at home was against Georgia in the regular season finale of the 2002-03 season, a 60-55 loss to the Bulldogs.
Josh Gonner was 9-10 from the line, going 7-8 during overtime. The nine free throws Gonner made was a career high for him. His previous high for free throws was five-for-seven vs. Ole Miss on Jan. 31.
The 90 points the Gamecocks scored tonight against Alabama was the most number of points Carolina has put on the scoreboard in the history of the Colonial Center. The most number of points Carolina has ever scored in a home game was 118 vs. Furman on Feb. 4, 1971 in a 118-83 win.
Mike Boynton tied a career high by hitting four three-point shots in a game. Boynton has achieved that feat now 10 times in his career at South Carolina.
Carolina had five players score in double digits tonight.
Josh Gonner scored 22 points tonight, falling two points shy of a career high for points in a game. Gonner scored 24 points in the win over Tennessee this season.
