Columbia, S.C. – The South Carolina men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams host the Alabama Crimson Tide on Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. at the Carolina Natatorium. Fresh off the women’s squad defeating Miami (Fla.) last weekend, the Gamecocks look to continue their success with the SEC Championships less than a month away.

“The closer we get to the SEC and NCAA Championships the better we need to be,” said USC head swimming coach Don Gibb. “Our team continues to work hard down this final stretch and we hope to have a good meet against Alabama.”

In last week’s victory vs. Miami (Fla.), senior Jennifer VanAssen and junior Heather Skaggs each won three individual events to lead the Gamecocks. VanAssen continues to hold the top time in the nation in the 200 freestyle at 1:46.07.

South Carolina completes dual meet competition next Saturday, Feb. 7 as the Gamecocks host Georgia at the Carolina Natatorium with the meet set for 1 p.m. The meet vs. the Bulldogs is also “Senior Day.”
