Florida Head Coach Mary Wise
“We felt the key was who would win the serving passing battle. They are relentless on how hard they serve. Arkansas is at its best when running points off serves. A lot of today’s good play had to do with the Tennessee game yesterday. As good of a serving team as Arkansas is if we can pass against them we can pass against other teams we play (in the NCAA tournament).
“Great teams have had two outside hitters (Cruz and Collymore).”
Aury Cruz, Florida, Sr., Outside Hitter
“I’m happy to get the SEC championship for the Florida team. We are still going to work hard in the next tournament. We have goals set up. We know the SEC helps a lot for the NCAA tournament on December 5th.”
On being named the tournament Most Valuable Player:
“These kinds of awards on paper are something special, but I just put them away. It is more special winning in three games. That shows how hard we work in practice and how focused we were.”
On setting the Florida career record for kills during the match:
“I heard about it, I didn’t want to have it on my mind. I’m happy about it; it shows all the hard work I did in my four years.”
Arkansas Head Coach Chris Poole
“I’m proud of the way the girls played, Florida is a great team. Florida matches us on size, not many teams can do that against us.
On NCAA tournament:
“We hope that we don’t have to play a top four seed in the first round. Florida has a legitimate shot at the national championship.”
Kele Brewer, Arkansas, Fr. Left Setter
“If we play Arkansas ball all the time, we can hang with anyone. I love to play the best teams. It is more exciting than intimidating.”
