Chapel Hill, N.C. – South Carolina volleyball will close out their 2003 season on the road as they take on the North Carolina Tar Heels on Saturday. The match is scheduled to start at Noon and will be held at the Carmichael Gym in Chapel Hill. USC is 12-17 overall and is hoping to snap a four-match losing streak.

UNC is 19-12 and lost to the Gamecocks 3-1 back in September in Columbia. Both teams were eliminated in their conference tournaments as the Tar Heels lost to Virginia 3-2 in the first round of the ACC Tournament and USC fell 3-0 to Alabama in the SEC Tournament.

In their last meeting, South Carolina hit .220 to UNC’s .154 and had four players reach double-figures in kills. The Gamecocks also outblocked the Tar Heels 13-5 and recorded 10 service aces to UNC’s three.

The Gamecocks are 2-1 against schools in the ACC this season as USC earned victories over Duke and North Carolina but lost to Clemson. UNC is 1-2 against schools in the SEC as the Tar Heels posted a win against Arkansas but suffered losses to the Gamecocks and Florida.

SEC Co-Freshman of the Year, Lynae Vanden Hull leads the Gamecocks with 311 kills and is hitting .258. The Papillion, Neb. native has led the Gamecocks in kills in 11 matches this season and also holds the team high for kills this year with 27.
