No. 3 Gamecocks 18th at NCAA Championship

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- No. 3 South Carolina shot 300 (+12) in the morning wave of round two at the 2022 NCAA Championship on Saturday. The Gamecocks moved two spots up the leaderboard into 18th, three shots back of the top-15 cut for the medal round.

Carolina closed strong today with birdies from three of its four counting scores at the par-5 18^th hole. Mathilde Claisse bounced back from a tough first round to pace the team with a 1-over 73. She made a team-high three birdies in round two.

Graduate transfer Tai Anudit shot 74 (+2) and junior transfer Justine Fournand fired a 75 (+3). Both players made fours at the 18^th hole.

Freshman Hannah Darling shot 78 (+6) and was the final counting score. Fellow freshman Louise Rydqvist had a tough second round with an 81 (+9).

A spot in the top-15 tomorrow would be the seventh medal round appearance for the Gamecocks in 11 NCAA Championship appearances under head coach Kalen Anderson.

Carolina will be paired with No. 4 Wake Forest and Mississippi State for the third round of stroke play on Sunday at Grayhawk Golf Club. Rydqvist will lead things off for the Gamecocks at 2:41 p.m. (ET).
