Columbia, S.C. – University of South Carolina men’s golfer Eirik Johansen fired a three-under-par 68 to leave him in a tie for 11th place at the Western Refining College All-American Golf Classic in El Paso, Texas. Johansen’s three round total of 209 (69-72-68) left him 13 strokes behind tournament champion Chris Nallen of Arizona. Six shots behind Nallen was UNLV’s Ryan Moore. Nallen’s six-stroke victory was the largest margin of victory in the history of the tournament.

The tournament, which was played at El Paso Country Club, featured 29 of the best college golfers in the United States. Previous champions included Tiger Woods, Notah Begay, Davis Love III and David Duval. USC was awarded a $1,000 scholarship because of Johansen’s participation in the tournament.

The 11th place finish caps off a successful fall season for Johansen, which included four top-10 finishes while posting a 72.3 stroke average.

USC will begin their spring season when they head to Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. to compete in the Mercedes Benz Collegiate from Feb. 8-10.
