LEXINGTON, Ky.-The tenth-ranked South Carolina men’s and women’s track teams earned three top-five finishes during day one of the Kentucky Invitational. Six events were completed on the evening ahead of Saturday’s final day of competition.

Greg Royster posted USC’s top men’s performance with a third-place finish in the pole vault by clearing 16’4″. Chelsea Hammond recorded USC’s top women’s performance by placing third in the high jump with a mark of 5’6″. Greig Cryer also finished in the top-five for the Gamecocks, taking fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 48’1.25″.

Saturday’s schedule begins with field events at 10:30 a.m. while track events get underway at 12:30 p.m. and continue throughout the afternoon. Results will be available on USCsports.com and Kentucky’s website, UKathletics.com

Men’s Highlights

Tony Antonio recorded a top-ten finish in the weight throw with a distance of 57’4.25″ for seventh-place. Teammate Jacob Minskey finished 15th in the event with a mark of 48’10.75″. Jason Jackamonis finished 12th in the triple jump with a mark of 43’1.5″ and Fred Townsend placed 17th in the pole vault with a height of 13’0.25″.

Women’s Highlights

Kemesha Whitmire finished seventh in the triple jump by reaching a distance of 39’4.5″. India Odum recorded a top-ten finish in the weight throw with a mark of 56’1.25″ to place ninth while teammate Precious Akins finished 22nd in the event with a mark of 44’7″. Freshman Reanna Townsend and teammate Monica Bozenski tied for 10th in the high jump by clearing 5’2.25″.
