Darling Named SEC Freshman of the Week
Scotland native finished T-2nd en route to helping team to third win of season
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — First-year standout Hannah Darling was named SEC Freshman of the Week, the league office announced on Thursday. She T-2nd and helped the team to its third victory of the season recently at the Valspar Augusta Invitational (March 12-13). It’s the first weekly honor for Darling.
The Midlothian, Scotland, native shot 72-73 in the shortened event for a 36-hole total of 145 (+10). She leads the team with a pair of top-five finishes in addition to two top-10s. Darling has finished in the top-30 in every event this season.
Her 72.65 scoring average leads the team.
Darling is currently ranked No. 9 in the latest Golfstat Player Rankings and No. 12 in WAGR.
The No. 3 Gamecocks are off this weekend and will compete again at the Liz Murphy Collegiate Classic (March 25-27), hosted by Georgia at UGA Golf Course.
