– Post Game Coaches Quotes, South Carolina vs. Idaho (11/18/03):
Dave Odom, South Carolina
“I thought for the first 15 minutes of the first half, we competed and played about as well as we can for this time of the year. The last five minutes of the first half we showed our age, or lack, thereof. We challenged our team at halftime to come out and be more competitive. Two of the most decisive plays were turned in by Kerbrell Brown. Tarence Kinsey had a big night and a good tournament. We didn’t close it out like we needed to. I think Idaho will have a good year and go on to have a good basketball team. I realize these two teams aren’t the ilk of the SEC teams we will face, but these were good steps, small steps, but important steps. I want this team to forget this tournament for the next two days and focus on Navy. Navy will bring a very determined team in here. They will play with a lot of pride.”
Leonard Perry, Idaho
“I thought our kids competed and did the things we asked them to today, 21 turnovers on the road against an SEC team completly eliminates your chances of competing. Thought we competed and defended well. We out rebounded them, but give those guys credit. Every mistake we made their kids made us pay. Our turnovers all came in succession.”
Notes
Tarence Kinsey posted a career high with 21 points tonight against Idaho. His previous career high was 14 points which was last night against Gardner-Webb.
The game was the second ever against Idaho and it improved the Gamecocks to 2-0 all-time against the Vandals.
