Gamecocks Tee It Up Sunday at Bulls Bay

AWENDAW, S.C. — South Carolina tees off Sunday morning in the opening round of the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate. The Gamecocks will be paired with Kentucky and Iowa State the opening 18 holes.
 
The weather forecast is dry and clear for the three-day event at Bulls Bay Golf Club, with high winds expected in round one.  
 
Carolina has played in the event every year dating back to 2005, posting four wins including three-straight from 2015–17. The Gamecocks were victorious again in 2019.
 
It’s the same five-player lineup for the men in Garnet and Black this week led by senior All-American Ryan Hall. Junior Jack Wall, who is fresh off a fifth-place finish in his last outing, will be in the No. 2 hole. He shot a bogey free 66 (-6) in the final round to lead the Gamecocks to a second place finish in a loaded field at the General Hackler Championship (March 13-14) two weeks ago. Sophomore Rafe Reynolds, redshirt senior Evans Lewis and freshman Nathan Franks round out the Carolina five this week. Freshman Gene Zeigler will be playing as an individual.
 
Bulls Bay Golf Club sits among windswept savannahs and centuries old live oaks just minutes from downtown Charleston.
 
The par-72, Mike Strantz designed course plays 7,220 yards from the championship tees. Strantz transformed a once flat stretch of Lowcountry coastline into a landscape reminiscent of the great links courses of Scotland and Ireland. Roughly two million cubic yards of earth were moved to reshape the site. The course features 75-foot elevation changes and 360-degree views.
