Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina sophomore women’s soccer player Amanda Thurber has been named to the SEC Soccer Good Works Team. The Good Works team highlights an athlete from each school, who gives back to their community in superior service efforts.

Thurber, a biology major, worked at a soccer clinic for Lexington County Soccer Club and read to students for Read Across America Day at Saluda River Academy for the Arts. Only a sophomore, Thurber spoke about leadership and interacted with the kids at River Springs Elementary and Irmo Elementary Schools. She has also demonstrated safety techniques for playing soccer at the Soccer Safety Clinic at Providence Northeast Hospital.

Thurber played in all 21matches this year for the Gamecocks with 20 starts. The midfielder from Fayetteville, Ga. had two goals and three assists on the season.
