Mayor Announces Plans to Honor Women’s Basketball with a Parade

Mayor Daniel Rickenmann, Columbia City Council and the City of Columbia will host a parade in honor of the University of South Carolina Women’s Basketball team’s NCAA National Championship.  The parade will be held on Wednesday, April 13, at 6 p.m. on Main Street.

“We are excited to announce this celebration in honor of our Gamecocks. Coach Staley’s hard work has turned the University of South Carolina into a national powerhouse. This team made us proud all year and a parade downtown is a great way for us to showcase that pride. Congratulations to all of the Gamecocks and also to Aliyah Boston on winning five National Player of the Year Awards,” said Mayor Daniel Rickenmann.

Mayor Rickenmann will invite local elected officials, government entities and community partners to join City and UofSC officials in the parade.

Additional information about parking and street closings will be shared at a later date.
