Gamecocks to Face Colorado State in Charleston Classic

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — ESPN Events unveiled its bracket for the 2022 Shriners Children’s Charleston Classic today. South Carolina will face Colorado State in the opening round on Thursday, Nov. 17. Tipoff is slated for 5 p.m. (ET) on ESPNU.

Davidson vs. College of Charleston (host school and playing in the event for the first time since 2016) is the other matchup on the Gamecocks’ side of the bracket.

Carolina will be making its third all-time appearance in the event (2009, 2014 and 2022), which is played annually at TD Arena in the heart of downtown Charleston wedged between King and Meeting St. The Gamecocks played in the title game in the team’s tournament debut in 2009, falling to Miami, 85-70.

The Rams went 25-5 last season and earned the No. 6 seed in the South Regional of the NCAA Tournament. They were defeated 75-63 by 11th-seeded Michigan in the opening round in Indianapolis, Ind.

The bracket-format tournament features 12 games over three days at . The teams compete once per day, regardless of results. The two unbeaten teams will face off in a championship game on Sunday, Nov. 20 at 3:30 p.m.

All-tournament tickets for the Shriners Children’s Charleston Classic are on sale now. Fans can purchase discounted early bird Premium Lower Chairback seats for $170 (regularly $185) or Lower Bleacher/Upper Level for $120 (regularly $135) through August 20. All seating for the Shriners Children’s Charleston Classic is general admission separated into those two tiers.

Single-session tickets will go on sale in October, pending availability. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance as Premium Lower Sideline tickets have sold out before October the past three years.
