In the latest issue of Track and Field News, a magazine devoted to Track and Field, Lashinda Demus, a member of the South Carolina Gamecocks Track and Field team, was named Women’s Athlete of the Year. She finished in the voting 24 points ahead of runner up Ychlindria Spears with 184 points.
Demus recently finished second in the 60 meter hurdles at the Virginia Tech Indoor Invitational in Blacksburg, Virginia. She also finished eighth in the 800 meter preliminaries. The Gamecock women’s track and field team is currently ranked number one in the nation.
