Gamecocks Hosting 10th Darius Rucker Intercollegiate Monday

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — No. 4 South Carolina is set to host the 10^th edition of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate as first round action gets underway on Monday morning in the Lowcountry. The Gamecocks will be paired with No. 18 Auburn and No. 22 Duke, with the late wave of tee times starting at 11:20 a.m. (ET).  
 
Golf Channel is making history airing all three days of the tournament live from 2:30-5:30 p.m. (ET) every day. It’s the first all-women’s regular season collegiate event to be carried by the network.
 
“Pretty exciting – it’s really awesome out here and Long Cove does a phenomenal job,” said head coach Kalen Anderson. “It’s a first-class event. Everybody is hyped for the broadcast with the Golf Channel. We’re excited to get the week going – a lot of activates but long story short, we’re just ready to play some golf. The group looks really good. If the wind is down the course is pretty scoreable. If the wind pops up, we’re going to have to be really smart and disciplined.”  
 
It’s the same five-player lineup for Carolina with the order shifted slightly. Junior Mathilde Claisse is the No. 1 player in the lineup. She’s joined by freshman Hannah Darling, junior transfer Justine Fournand, graduate transfer Tai Anudit and freshman Louise Rydqvist.
 
Sophomores Paul Kirner and Abbey Schimpf will be playing as individuals this week. Schimpf will be making her debut in Garnet and Black. She joined the team as a walk-on last fall.
 
Fans in the area are encouraged to come out and support the Gamecocks. Admission is free.
 
Spectator parking will be at Central Church directly across from the Long Cove Club entrance. Parking signs and parking attendants will be available to assist. A trolley will shuttle spectators daily from 8:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. For your safety, all spectators must ride the shuttle and no walking across highway 278 will be permitted.
 
Every team in the field this week is ranked in the top-50 of the latest Golfstat Team Rankings, with 10 inside the top-25.
 
The teams will attend a private Darius Rucker concert tomorrow evening after dinner and the conclusion of the first round, a tournament tradition since its inception in 2012.
