The University of South Carolina will host the 2003 SEC Volleyball Tournament this weekend, Friday, Nov. 21-23 at the Volleyball Competition Facility. The conference’s top eight teams will compete for an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament. The Gamecocks are seeded sixth and will face third seed Alabama on Friday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m.
The SEC Champion Florida Gators will open the tournament when they take on No. 8 Kentucky at 1 p.m. There will be four matches on Friday, then two semifinal matches on Saturday and the Championship match will be Sunday at 1 p.m. Sunday’s match will also be televised live on FOX Sports Net South.
The Florida Gators have won the last five tournament titles and the last 10 of 11. The only other team to win the tournament title in the last 11 years is Arkansas. The Lady ‘Backs defeated the Gators in 1997.
